' Estimated Construction Cost: $2.95 million (fees) <br /> � Ie <br /> Assessing the Feasibility and Implications of Managed Retreat <br /> Strategies for Vulnerable Coastal Areas in Hawaii <br /> SSFM prepared a study that was prompted by recent climate change <br /> , legislation, plans and studies such as the Ocean Resources <br /> , . Management Plan (2013) and the Sea Level Rise Vulnerability and <br /> - --, Adaptation Report (2017). The managed retreat study involved four <br /> main tasks: 1) Background research consisting of literature review <br /> and stakeholder consultation on managed retreat; 2) Four scenario <br /> .,. profiles, involving preparation of hypothetical scenarios, site visits, <br /> and focus group discussions to explore retreat of different <br /> development types; 3) Symposium on managed retreat, with keynote <br /> speakers and participants from across the state; and 4) the Final <br /> Report which summarized the results of research and prior tasks. <br /> Cost: $125,000 million <br /> Hawaii State Plan Update Phase I <br /> Statewide, Hawaii <br /> SSFM conducted a comprehensive review of Hawaii Revised <br /> Statutes (HRS), Chapter 26, The State Planning Act. This review <br /> involved inventorying and reviewing all state department plans, <br /> strategic plans, functional plans, and capital improvement plans; <br /> identifying common themes and policy directions. SSFM developed <br /> findings as to the overall status of plans and prepared findings and <br /> recommendations for the next step in updating the State Planning <br /> Act. <br /> Cost: $$49,933 (fees) <br />
