NNS I ) <br /> — QIS:As part of our commitment to producing the highest quality work,the firm also implements a Quality <br /> Improvement Systems (QIS),which is based on the principles of Total Quality Management(TQM).The <br /> quality improvement initiative is a complement to, not a replace of, the existing QA/QC system. <br /> The project manager has overall responsibility for implementing a comprehensive and appropriate QA/QC <br /> program which forms the foundation of the quality control program. Our approach to controlling technical <br /> quality and minimizing design errors can be summarized as follows: <br /> — Assignment of appropriate technically qualified personnel to the project. <br /> — Prompt communication of project requirements to the technical staff. <br /> — Independent technical review of project deliverables by qualified senior staff prior to submittal to the <br /> client. <br /> — Frequent reviews and performance assessment by all levels of management. <br /> We have developed our own Quality Manual and the Honolulu staff has received training in the application of <br /> the quality process. Our staff recognizes the importance of adherence to the quality process that includes the <br /> following: <br /> — Preparation of a Project Quality Plan <br /> — Checking and Backchecking Procedures <br /> — Reviews by Project Manager <br /> — Peer Reviews <br /> — Constructibility Reviews <br /> — Documentation <br /> ERRORS AND OMISSIONS <br /> Any time a design error is discovered or any other unforeseen condition arises during construction,we are <br /> committed to assigning highest priority to addressing the issue at the earliest possible time. Our staff is <br /> acutely aware of and recognizes that any construction issues, including design errors,requests for <br /> clarification, or construction problems, must be resolved without delays so that the contractor may proceed <br /> unimpeded. Our staff also recognizes that determining the causes of errors or problems are of secondary <br /> importance and should be deferred until the issue is resolved. <br />
