Commissioner Graham? <br />GRAHAM:Mr. Woodell just, Im not sure how relevant it is to our decision but could <br />you just give us a sense of what is, what was sort of your motive and situation when you did <br />speakwithMs.Lewiswasitlikespeakingtoanoldfriend.Wasitlikewhateveritwas,could <br />you just fill us in now so that we can understand what really transpired more easily? <br />WOODELL:You know to answer that and I hate to take all the time but I think its-. <br />You know I was elected to the Kailua, Oahu neighborhood board for 4, 3, 2 sessions, 4 years. <br />And during that time I came to the very strong conclusion that the western method of deciding <br />these, this planning issue was all wrong. That all it did was create a lot of bad feelings, cost a lot <br />of money and you know I felt that in our community hoopono is the way to go. Discuss these <br />things out. And I felt through this whole, this whole matter, I think its really sad that this is what <br />its come to. And you know maybe in the back, back of mind I, you know I, I wish that we could <br />have a discussion to see if the thing couldnt be resolved. And as a result you know this, I had <br />this discussion with a, you know and I think Ive talked to her before. And, because, probably <br />before I represented Ms. Copman at some time. I dont know you know, I, when you live in a <br />small community and you know people these conversations happen. And, you know I, its, you <br />know I am certainly willing to take my medicine before the disciplinary committee, council, if I <br />did, you know if I transgressed the rules. Thats, you know, obviously I have to take my <br />medicine although you know, it would be a hollow victory for the disciplinary council. But <br />having said that, I was making a measurement. Leilani Lewis came up and I had no idea that, <br />where she was going, in fact she walks that area a lot. She asked me what I was doing. And I <br />said, you know Im measuring to see where the setback is. And then things just you know and <br />we talked. And as I say, I didnt really consciously think about her being a member of the Board <br />of Directors. I mean I dont know whose on that Board of Directors. I know at one time she <br />was. You know its my obligation for me to I suppose know every member of the Board of <br />Directors and not say a word to them but its pretty when you live in a community to not get <br />involved with these things. And I said my background is you know this thing should have been <br />talked out. So you know its my, my, my bad. <br />GALDONES:Any further questions commissioners? Seeing none Ms. Leithead-Todd <br />do you have any remarks to the motion? <br />LEITHEAD-TODD:The County is opposed to the motion to disqualify Mr. Woodell.
