DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION <br />RECREATION DIVISION <br />799 PiiIani St, Hilo, HI. 96720 <br />Phone: 808-961-8735— Fax: 961-8736 <br />Email: Darrell.Yamarnoto@hawaiicounty.gov <br />Dear Coaches, <br />The West Hawaii meet will be held at the Kealakehe High School Track while the East Hawaii meet will be held <br />at the Waiakea High School Stadium. The West Hawaii Track meet will be held on February 3 & 17 and the East <br />Hawaii Track meet will be held on February 17 & March 2, 2024. You may NOT participate in more than 2 meets} We <br />will be doing only Age Group meets and we have did away with Exponent meets. <br />Here are a few reminders and helpful hints: <br />1. All participants must submit a signed registration/waiver form before participating in any meets. Both sides of <br />the form must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. Forms may be submitted at the first meet. Forms will be <br />available in December 2023 and will also be available on-line at http://www.co.hawaii.hi.us/parks/recreation.htm. <br />2. Participants can enter only three events, one of which must be a field event. Relays are included in the three <br />events. Be sure chosen events are listed in participants division. Any participant competing in excess of three <br />events will automatically be disqualified from those events. <br />3. Participants must compete in their age group according to meet date. <br />4. Relay teams members must be of the same gender and division. Please designate members of a relay team, when <br />more than one team is entered in the same division and race. <br />5. At some time during the meet, field and track events will run simultaneously. Any runner competing in a field <br />event must inform the field event leader of his/her entry in an announced running event. The Runner will be <br />released to compete in the running event, but must return immediately to complete the field event. <br />6. All entrants should wear a nametag (include school/club name). Name tags for each running event will be <br />provided by the department, Relay nametag (list all runners) will be placed on the fourth runner only. Nameta.gs <br />will be removed from runners if they place in the top three places of each heat. Nametags will be available for <br />distribution upon receipt of entry forms. PLEASE HAVE NAME TAGS LEGIBLE! <br />Entry forms for all meets must be submitted at least two weeps prior to the meet date. For the Age Group <br />Meet on February 3 & 17, Deadline for entries is JANUARY 19 2024 & FEBRUARY 2 2024 For the Age <br />Group Meet on February 17 and March 2, 2024, Deadline for entries is February 2 and February 16, 2024. <br />Late entries may not get posted for the meet day. Please use separate entry forms for boys and girls. To ensure <br />entry and correct spelling of child's name, please print legibly or type names of entrants. Any changes must <br />be faxed to 961-8736 or emailed to Darrell.Yamamoto@hawaiicounty.gov. <br />8. Coaches must list phone/cell number(s) on the entry form so that we will be able to contact you in case a meet is <br />cancelled due to inclement weather. <br />9. No spikes will be allowed on the track, including any shoe designed for turf surface sports (natural or artificial), <br />e.g. football/soccer shoes. No athlete will be allowed to compete in bare feet. Running shoes only, no track shoes. <br />
