Walua Partners, LLC.: Special Management Area Use Permit Application <br /> IV. SPECIAL MANAGEMENT AREA ANALYSIS: <br /> The property is located within the Special Management Area of the County of Hawaii. <br /> A. PROPOSED ACTION IN RELATION TO HRS CHAPTER 205A. <br /> 1. Recreational and Visual Resources: <br /> The property does not offer any recreational opportunities for the public as the <br /> project site is separated from the shoreline by over 500 feet and two county <br /> owned roadways. The proposed development will not adversely impact any <br /> recreational or visual resources to the shoreline and coastal ecosystems. <br /> Furthermore, the view planes from the shoreline towards the property from <br /> Kuakini Highway and Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway will not be impacted as the <br /> lands along the shoreline in this area are developed with single and multi-family <br /> residences and landscaping. <br /> 2. Historic Resources: <br /> This site was surveyed by Dr. Paul Rosendahl between November 2nd1 2001- <br /> March 29th, 2002, and the subsequent data recovery was conducted by Dr. Alan <br /> Haun and finalized in March 2007. This work was reviewed and approved by the <br /> State Historic Preservation Division on October 31St, 2008.Please see the exhibits <br /> for a copy of the data recovery plan. No historic features will be impacted by the <br /> proposed residential project. <br /> 3. Scenic and Open Space Resources: <br /> The proposed development is similar in character to the surrounding area and is <br /> not likely to result in any substantial adverse impact on the surrounding <br /> environment. The project site is separated from the shoreline by over 500 feet <br /> and two county owned roadways. <br /> 17 <br />
