Walua Partners, LLC.: Special Management Area Use Permit Application <br /> Applicant's Response: <br /> The proposed residential development's solid waste will be disposed of at <br /> the County's Landfill in South Kohala by commercial haulers. The proposed <br /> residential development's wastewater will be managed by a sewer line that <br /> delivers the wastewater to the County's Wastewater Treatment Facility at <br /> Kealakehe. These methods of handling the solid and liquid waste for the <br /> development will minimize any adverse effects upon the Special <br /> Management Area resource. <br /> D. Alterations to the existing landforms and vegetation, excepts crops, and <br /> construction of structures shall cause minimum adverse effect to water <br /> resources, scenic and recreational amenities, and minimum dangers of <br /> floods, wind damage, storm surge, landslides, erosion, siltation, or failure <br /> in the event of an earthquake <br /> Applicant's Response: <br /> The proposed residential development will physically alter and change the <br /> existing landform minimally. The proposed one-story and two-story <br /> structures will require little alteration of the existing landform which was <br /> previously extensively graded. The development will include (40) off street <br /> parking spaces with (5) of them being ADA accessible. It will be in <br /> compliance with applicable requirements of the Zoning Code and ADA <br /> requirements. Also proposed in the development plan will be varied <br /> landscaping per Zoning Code requirements and requirements of the Kailua <br /> Village Design Plan. The color scheme for the proposed structures will be of <br /> greys and earth tone colors to blend in with the character of the immediate <br /> surrounding area. It is not tied directly with the recreational resources of the <br /> coastal areas. Furthermore, the view planes to and along the shoreline <br /> towards the property will not be adversely impacted as the lands along the <br /> shoreline in this area are already developed with multi-family and single- <br /> 21 <br />
