and goals established as a result of community input at public hearings_ <br />Consultation meetings were held in Hilo (on July 22, 2009, June 18, 2009 (video <br />conference with Kona) and on November 19, 2009. Meetings were also held in <br />Kona on June 18, 2009 (via video conference with Hilo) and on November 18, <br />2009. Overall, there were 33 participants: 22 in Hilo, and 12 in Kona, <br />representing not - for -profit service providers, housing services providers, <br />developers, and county and state agencies, In addition to these consultations, the <br />OHCD also met with each Council Member representing all districts in the <br />County of Hawai'i. <br />D. Proposed CP Public Comment Period <br />On October 30, 2009, the OHCD published a public notice (See Appendix C) <br />soliciting comments on the County's proposed CP. The public notice was <br />published in the Hawaii Tribune Herald and West Hawaii Today newspapers, as <br />well as the County of Hawai'i website. A letter/e-mail was sent to those <br />organizations and agencies that participated in the consultation process and to <br />other interested parties to inform them of the availability of the County's <br />proposed CP and to seek comments. Comments were due to the OHCD by <br />November 30, 2009, to meet the HUD 30 -day comment period requirement. <br />E. Hawar i County Housing Agency <br />A meeting of the Hawai'i County Housing Agency will be held on December 15, <br />2009, to approve the County's CP and recommend the adoption of a resolution to <br />approve the citizen participation plan and execute and submit the CP to HUD. <br />Efforts to broaden participation <br />The County has done the following to broaden participation: <br />• Distributed surveys to get input on housing, homeless, special needs and <br />community development needs <br />• Included information to the public on the County's weekly newsletter that <br />is distributed by email to 10,000 persons/organizations <br />• Included video eonferencing in the Citizen Participation Plan. <br />F.
