EXECUTIVE ON AGING REPORT AND UPDATES – Horace Farr <br />Personnel and Staffing: <br />1) Executive on Aging reported that we have filled our Data Analyst <br />position. Louis de Virgilio will start tomorrow, Thursday, August 1, 2024. <br /> <br />Older Americans Month (OAM): Luncheon wrap-up report. <br />Executive on Aging: <br />1) Thanked the Committee on Aging (COA) members for attending and <br />supporting the event. <br />2) Reported that the final attendance topped out at 260 <br />3) Congratulated all nominees. <br />4) Reported that Hawaiʻi County Office of Aging (HCOA) has already started the <br />process and planning for next year. <br /> <br />State Policy Advisory Board on Elderly Affairs (PABEA) OAM <br />Recognition Luncheon. <br />Executive on Aging: <br />1) Escorted Robert Terukina and Amy Hamane to the State PABEA OAM <br />Luncheon. <br />2) Luncheon was held at 19 Craigside, Honolulu on Friday, June 7, 2024. <br />3) Also reported that the group encountered delayed flights, but made it to the <br />luncheon. <br /> <br />USAging Conference and Tradeshow report. <br />Executive on Aging: <br />1) Thanked the State Executive Office on Aging (EOA) for providing the <br />th <br />opportunity to attend the 49 Annual USAging Conference and Tradeshow in <br />Tampa, Florida from July 8-11, 2024. <br />2) Reported that this was the largest attended Conference with 1,400 attendees. <br />3) Major Focus & Hot Topics: Caregiving, Alzheimer’s, and the Re-authorization of <br />the Older Americans Act (OAA). <br /> <br />POLICY ADVISORY BOARD OF ELDERLY AFFAIRS (PABEA) – <br />Shelly Ogata <br />New Officers, Committee changes, New Members, and upcoming PABEA <br />Orientation meeting: Upcoming meeting on August 2, 2024. Retaining current <br />Chair, Beverly Gotelli from Kaua’i. May have committee changes. There are a <br />handful of new members and that is why there will be an orientation. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
