Greenwell: Okay, Gerald, I'm just glad that you're giving us some insight because what
he's saying here is he has problems on Maui, and he has problems with his health, and
he has problems with his location. He doesn't say anything about having a problem
with the Planning Department, and I just want to spend a little time, or we've spent a
little time discussing this because it's kind of hard to pinpoint his problem other than
himself.
Nishimoto: Okay, so I would need approval with good cause?
Taniguchi: I'll make the motion, and I'll say the good cause is, Gerald had kind of
clarified it for us, I had a couple questions on the fourth paragraph, and there's still
County, you know it says, efforts required to wrap up the next phase. I talked to Gerald
about that prior to the meeting, and he explained to me those were issues with the
Planning Department. So, you know that kind of satisfied me, and you know as we
know most of these guys, they not pushing it back just to push them back, they want to
follow through and open already. But I think that's the reason, so I'll make the motion
and say the good cause being the final wrap up items needed to complete his
application and license, primarily the County Planning approval.
Nishimoto: Okay, thank you. May I have a second?
Okabe: Okabe, second.
Commissioner Taniguchi moved to approve the request to extend
the time issuance of the liquor license for good cause shown for an
additional six months, from August 2, 2024, to and including February 2,
2025, by email received July 18, 2024; of its Restaurant General liquor
license, Category A, located at 75-5813 AM Drive, #H, Kailua-Kona,
Hawaii; Seconded by Commissioner Okabe.
Nishimoto: Any discussion of the motion?
There was no discussion by Commissioners.
Nishimoto: Let's take a vote, all those in favor say "Aye."
The Commissioners voted "Aye."
Nishimoto: Opposed say "Nay."
There was no opposition by Commissioners.
Nishimoto: Extension has been approved.
The motion was carried unanimously.
MINUTES - LIQUOR COMMISSION MEETING - THURSDAY, AUGUST 1, 2024 - KONA PAGE 20 OF 33
