Kona, Hawaii, Lodge No. 2616, Benevolent and Protective Order <br />of Elks of the United States of America, dba Kona Elks Club, <br />(10:33 AM) RE: Application No. 20-38, approval of request to extend the time <br />issuance of the liquor license for good cause shown for an additional <br />six months, from September 2, 2024, to and including March 2, 2025) <br />by letter received July 18, 2024, of its Club liquor license, Category B2, <br />located at 75-170 Hualalai Road, Suite E-100, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii . <br />Passage requires finding of good cause pursuant to Rule 4-2(M) of <br />the Rules and Regulations of the Liquor Commission of the County <br />of Hawaii. If the Commission finds good cause, state what that <br />good cause is when making the motion. <br />Nishimoto: May I have a motion to approve with good cause? <br />Greenwell: Ms. Chair? <br />Nishimoto: Yes <br />Greenwell: We're giving them six months or 12 months? <br />Nishimoto: So, it is inconsistent, so the agenda says six, and then in the letter they're <br />requesting 12, so not sure. So, I guess it would be 12 then. <br />Takase: Commissioners, I talked to their attorney, I told him to just ask for 12, and <br />actually, it's kind of fortuitous now because I just got a note from them the other day that <br />their leader passed away, so they're kind of in a flux for a little while anyways. But as <br />they explained, they're trying to do the improvements themselves, the club members, <br />so it's taking a little longer than expected. So that's why I said just ask for the 12 rather <br />than have you come back two times, so that's why there's a difference. I think they had <br />originally just asked for six, but when I talked to them, I said you know what, just ask for <br />the 12. So, we didn't catch that too. <br />Greenwell: I think part of the confusion is, the letter here it says, "However, my <br />experience with this project leads me to believe it'll be more like 180 days."
