And Assistant Chief Okinaka can verify that, if I am mis-stating the facts of <br />what happened here. <br />MR. OKINAKA: That is correct. It was just an interview for the (inaudible). <br />CHR. CABANAS: Okay. <br />MR. HONG: So, Chief, who ranked all the individuals who applied for the position? <br />MR. OKINAKA: I did. <br />MR. HONG: And so, in terms of ranking, my client was the first on that list of ranksI mean, <br />in terms of ranking of the candidates? <br />MR. OKINAKA: Like I said, at this point I cannot verify. I don't have the exact ranking before <br />me, so I don't want to mis-state. But, like I said early, he was one of the top candidates. <br />MR. HONG: Okay. And then, in terms of that ranking, where did the grievant come in? <br />MS. TAVARES: Again, confidentiality goes —he's looking for the name of the person who filed <br />the grievance. <br />MR. HONG: I'm not. I'm not. I don't care what his name is. I just want to know where he was <br />on the —on that ranking on that list of ranking of eligibles. <br />MS. TAVARES: Below Number four. Obviously, he was below Number 4. <br />CHR. CABANAS: Number 4 <br />MR. HONG: Well, Ms. Tavares is not under oath and we know that it's a list of at least ten to 14 <br />people —maybe even 16 people —and my question is, are we talking about the 14'h or the 16'h <br />person or the I Oh person? That's all I want to know. Where did he end up? I mean, the Chief <br />would say the bottom third? The bottom half? That's fine. If he doesn't recall —`cause he <br />doesn't recall, obviously, in terms of where my client ranked on the list —one of the top guys, <br />but. <br />CHR. CABANAS: I think you need to backtrack a little bit. Because one of the exhibits shows <br />the interview questions. So, where were you going to go with that? <br />MR. HONG: I wasn't going to go with the interview questions. I just wanted to know where the <br />grievant was on the list to the best of the Chief's recollection. <br />CHR.
