I'm circling back to this email so I can ensure that I have all required documents in file regarding Hamakua Distillery LLC's liquor license application for a Manufacture liquor license. Hamakua Distillery LLC is applying for a Manufacture liquor license to manufacture distilled spirits on TMK 2-8- 008:004. Your email below confirms that a proposed micro -distillery as described in the attached email that was submitted by Charmaine Banther, is classified as Agricultural Products Processing, Minor and pursuant to the zoning code, no additional land use entitlements were required, however, I'm just checking to see if an approved Ag-Based Commercial Operation Certification ("Certification") is needed. Typically, we have the approved certification in file when manufacturing/distilling/commercial activity is being done on an Ag-zoned parcel. If your email below is in lieu of an approved Certification, then please advise and I will add your email to their file. I will check in with Charmaine regarding your mention of them obtaining a building permit from DPW. I'm assuming this is for their as -built structure that was approved under their Declaration of Compliance (permits will be for plumbing and electrical). After consulting with the Planning Director regarding your request, I can confirm that the proposed m icro-distittery described in your March 24, 2025 email (attached) is classified as "Agricultural Products Processing, Minor" under the zoning code. The zoning code defines "Agricultural Products Processing, Minor" as activities used for crop production, which are not regulated as major agricultural products processing and which involve a variety of operations on crops after harvest to prepare them for market, or further processing and packaging at a distance from the agricultural, area.
