Development of this plan is being conducted in partnership with <br /> the Hawaii Community College-Palamanui (HCC-Palamanui) located adjacent to the project area. This project aims to protect and <br /> improve some of the last remaining native low-land dry forest while also providing outdoor recreational opportunities and educational <br /> programs for the community through a collaborative effort between the HCC-Palamanui and DLNR's DOFAW. HCC-Palama staff, <br /> students and volunteers have been conducting some restoration of this forest <br /> area, and the project would support and expand their efforts, educational • <br /> opportunities, along with supporting environmental restoration and _ . <br /> cultural practices.
