<br /> DHHL 'Ewa Beach Homestead Master Plan and Environmental
<br /> Assessment, 'Ewa Beach, O`ahu. Planner. A master plan and
<br /> EDUCATION environmental assessment were being prepared for a new residential
<br /> Master of Urban and Hawaiian homestead community on recently acquired DHHL lands in 'Ewa
<br /> Regional Planning, Beach. The process included beneficiary and stakeholder engagement,
<br /> University of Hawaii at technical studies, preparation of a preliminary engineering report, and a
<br /> Manoa beneficiary survey to inform the Master Plan and EA alternatives.
<br /> Bachelor of Arts, DHHL Hanapepe Homestead Development, Kauai, Hawaii. Planner. A
<br /> Communication (Minor, traffic assessment, planning, public engagement, technical site studies,
<br /> Hawaiian Studies), and environmental compliance were prepared for the proposed phased
<br /> University of Hawaii at master plan development of residential and commercial buildings on 365
<br /> Hilo acres of Hawaiian Home Lands in support of an Environmental
<br /> Assessment. Project required coordination and consideration with existing
<br /> land use and transportation plans for the County and State in addition to
<br /> providing improved active transportation alternatives for walking and
<br /> bicycling through the implementation of complete streets principles.
<br /> DHHL Waimanalo Regional Plan Update, Waimanalo, O`ahu, Hawaii.
<br /> Planner. SSFM led the update of the Department of Hawaiian Home
<br /> Lands' Regional Plan for Waimanalo. The project documented current
<br /> conditions and changes since the last update. Current community projects
<br /> and priorities were identified through beneficiary consultation with native
<br /> Hawaiian homesteaders in the community.
<br /> Assessing the Feasibility of Managed Retreat from Vulnerable Coastal
<br /> Areas in Hawaii, Various Locations, Statewide, Hawaii. Planner. The
<br /> project involved preparation of a background report, execution of four
<br /> case studies and focus groups statewide, planning and execution of a
<br /> symposium on managed retreat, and a final report.
<br /> North Shore Sustainable Communities Plan Update, O`ahu, Hawaii.
<br /> Planner. SSFM was the prime consultant for the update of the City and
<br /> County DPP's North Shore Sustainable Communities Plan. The plan
<br /> established the vision, policies, and land use patterns for the North Shore
<br /> Planning District through 2040 and beyond. It will be developed using an
<br /> inclusive process that combines research and data collection with
<br /> community input.
<br /> East Kauai Community and Circulation Plan, Kauai, Hawaii. Planner.
<br /> SSFM supported the County of Kauai with preparation of the East Kauai
<br /> Community and Circulation Plan (EKCCP). The first long-range
<br /> comprehensive plan for the region, the EKCCP developed policy
<br /> recommendations for land use, transportation, housing, urban design,
<br /> climate adaptation, infrastructure, and other topics affecting the region.
