Hele Kakou Kahului will be a pilot project and includes the development of a wayfinding signage manual to guide the implementation of wayfinding improvements around the County. Proposed roadway safety improvements focused on key routes identified in the wayfinding system and will compliment other Complete Streets implementation projects that have been recently completed or are underway.The project involved extensive secondary research,consultation with a range of stakeholders,and the use of online workshops,surveys,and interactive maps to develop a wayfinding system that fits the needs and desires of the Kahului community. Mr. Hagihara worked in close coordination with multiple City and County of Honolulu departments and utility stakeholders to avoid potential conflicts for bikeshare stations. HHF developed a comprehensive GIS database of the station locations to track status and provide up to date mapping products for community engagement. Informed by analysis and recommendations from a previous engineering study, Mr. Hagihara g• worked closely with Navy and MCB Hawaii stakeholders to develop a conceptual site planning report to protect the rifle ranges, retreat the short-distance ranges,and restore shoreline vegetation in an effort to make the Range more resilient to future shoreline erosion and sea level rise.The dynamic nature of the shoreline,and the relationship between marine and terrestrial resource components presented a complex environmental planning challenge. Mr. Hagihara and the HHF team conducted extensive research and interviewed the previous engineering team to evaluate potential shoreline impacts and establish trends in the shoreline surveys.This information was critical in support of the EA as well as the Marine Corps' ESA Section 7 and Magnusson- Stevens Act EFH consultations as well as the CZMA de minimis notification.
