Scope of Work <br /> Nohopapa Hawaii presents here our approach to carry out this project. It is our understanding that ATA <br /> is applying for a grant to fund this project. If the grant is awarded,we anticipate a notice to proceed in <br /> July 2024. The work must be completed by June 30,2025. Based on our previous experience completing <br /> similar projects, our scope of work has been organized and divided into four main tasks: <br /> i. Task i— Project Planning, Meetings, and Data Management <br /> 2. Task 2 — Background Research, Synthesis, and Analysis <br /> 3. Task 3 — Community Outreach and Consultation and Ethnographic Interviews <br /> 4. Task 4— Data Integration and Report Preparation <br /> Task i — Project Planning, Meetings, and Data Management <br /> >> Schedule and coordinate monthly project meetings with the ATA,the County of Hawaii, and any <br /> other appropriate parties <br /> Review existing Resource Management Plans for Ka`u including existing background documents <br /> and reports, grant applications, grant agreements, baseline survey, AIS, and historical <br /> information <br /> >> Conduct 1-2 planning site visits with ATA <br /> Data organization and management <br /> Task 2 — Background Research, Synthesis, and Analysis <br /> The historical information associated with people and`aina will provide the foundation and background <br /> for understanding the cultural landscape, resources, and customary practices in the project area. This <br /> task will encompass a search of information in archives,repositories, and online-databases that include, <br /> but are not limited to: oral traditions, historical accounts, land documents and maps, `olelo Hawaii <br /> sources, newspaper articles, historic preservation reports, ethnographic and historical studies, and <br /> historical photos. Background research will include a general overview of the following: <br /> Natural landscapes and resources(environmental zones,soils,geology,plants,waterways, <br /> coastlines,fisheries). <br /> Native Hawaiian traditions and accounts (ka`ao, mo`olelo, inoa `aina, mele, oli, `olelo <br /> no`eau, nupepa,wahi pana). <br /> Post-European contact historical accounts(early visitor accounts, plantation era,historic <br /> maps, English newspapers). <br /> Kingdom of Hawaii land use and resource management practices (Mahele information— <br /> Boundary Commission Testimonies, Land Commission Awards, Native & Foreign <br /> Testimonies and Registers, Government Land Grants, Crown lands). <br /> Archaeological information pertaining to cultural and historic sites within the study area <br /> to reconstruct traditional land use activities and to identify and describe cultural resources <br /> and practices in the area. <br /> Identify access routes,pedestrian and automotive,both historic and modern <br /> Task 3 - Community Outreach and Consultation and Ethnographic Interviews <br /> >> Work with ATA to develop an outreach strategy and stakeholder outreach list <br /> Nohopapa Hawaii,LLC*PO BOX 197,Hakalau,HI 96710*Noho1a12a.HawaiWgmai1.com 3 <br /> 26-07 <br />
