Hawaii Police Commission <br />Meeting Agenda <br />March 20, 2026 <br />Page 2 <br />V.NEW BUSINESS <br />Correspondence No. 26-04 Appointment of Deputy Police Chief <br />Memorandum from Police Chief Reed Mahuna regarding his selection of Assistant <br />Chief Sherry Bird for appointment to the position of Deputy Police Chief. Pursuant to <br />PoliceChief with the confirmation of the Police Commission. The Commission will <br />discuss and take action on the proposed appointment. <br />Commission’s Secretary Position <br />The Commission will discuss the status of the Commission’s Secretary position, <br />including the upcoming vacancy and the absence of a backup position or <br />contingency plan. The Commission may consider possible options and take action <br />asappropriate. <br />Discussion regarding the Performance Evaluation of the Police Chief <br />The Commission will discuss and possibly make decisions regarding evaluation of <br />the Police Chief’s performance, including: (1) when to conduct the evaluation; (2) <br />evaluation criteria; (3) evaluation process; and (4) any other matters related to the <br />evaluation. <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION (CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC) <br />For the following agenda items, the Commission will meet in executive session to <br />consider charges against officers or employees of the police department, where <br />matters affecting privacy will be involved and may consult with the board’s attorney <br />on questions and issues pertaining to the Commission’s powers, duties, privileges, <br />immunities, and liabilities pursuant to HRS § 92-5 <br />Charter Section 13-20 (b). <br />VI.CONSIDERATION AND INVESTIGATION OF COMPLAINTS (EXECUTIVE <br />SESSION–CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC) <br />HPC 26-01:The complainant alleges that the officer’s conduct was hostile. <br />HPC 26-03:The complainant alleges that the officer’s conduct was <br />inappropriately aggressive. <br />Complaints in the non-acceptance category. <br />VII.
