<br />ADA Coordinator Activities <br />April 2007 <br />ADA - Title II & S. 504 <br />Responded to inquiry from Mass Transit Agency regarding specifications <br />· <br />for accessible vans, buses; <br />Forwarded complaint re inaccessible toilet stall in Kohala Senior Center to <br />· <br />Department of Parks and Recreation a raised toilet seat was installed; <br />Consulted with ADA specialist regarding a request to install handrails on <br />· <br />path going into ocean at Carlsmith Beach Park, met with Corporation <br />Counsel and Director Parks and Recreation and Parks Planner to discuss <br />change in strategy on Transition Plan; contacted Executive Director at <br />DCAB for clarification regarding making individual modifications; <br />Clarified priority seating procedures for Mass Transit Agency; <br />· <br />Followed with DCAB that State,notCounty, purchases alarms for Tsunami <br />· <br />Warning System; <br />Forwarded information regarding Wireless Emergency Notification System <br />· <br />to Department of Civil Defense and County resident; <br />Followed up with Department of Public Works to correct blockage of <br />· <br />accessible route from Pauahi St. to Aupuni Center due to construction; <br />also requested that temporary bus stop on Aupuni Street be made <br />accessible, and suggested that notification that sidewalk on mauka side <br />of Aupuni Street is closed be posted at Kilauea and Aupuni Streets; <br />Forwarded an inquiry regarding construction at Hale Halawai to <br />· <br />Department of Parks and Recreation; <br />Received complaint from County resident that County engineers did not <br />· <br />require a private developer to make a path on private property in a <br />sewer easement accessible; commenced investigating; <br />Discussed spraying of herbicides with Superintendent-Highways, requested <br />· <br />that schedule for spraying be posted on the departments web page; <br />Responded to inquiry regarding unavailability of training room at <br />· <br />Kealekehe Police Station to the public. <br />Title I <br />Responded to an inquiry from Department of Parks and Recreation HR <br />· <br />specialist re establishing protocols for rescue staff to prevent spread of <br />infectious diseases. <br />Title III <br />Provided a contractor with information regarding design of accessible <br />· <br />bathrooms. <br />OtherADAActivities <br />Conducted4hourtrainingonADAandLawEnforcementforthe71class <br />st <br />· <br />ofnewPoliceRecruits; <br />Conducted ADA training for Hele-On bus operators; <br />· <br />Started working on an Awareness Session for County Personnel <br />· <br />Representativeswithrespecttopeoplewhoaredeaf. <br /> <br />
