Services is currently issuing Identification Cards to seniors in <br />Hawaii County. <br />Hawaii County as an Equal OpportunityEmployer: <br />Consulted with a department and Corporation Counsel on a <br />workplace accommodation issue. <br />Hawaii County as Equal Opportunity Provider: <br />Received request for expedited Building Permit for an accessible <br />house; <br />Responded to one inquiry from County Clerk re Program Access; <br />Consulted with Office of Elections re staff requirements to make <br />polling places accessible; <br />Responded to one inquiry re Effective Communications – <br />Sunshine Laws Document. <br />Auxiliary Aids: <br />Alisa Mitchener and I met with Spike Werner to discuss ALDs. <br />Went to County Council to test the device. We found it wasn’t <br />working and it’s since been fixed. Dr. Werner generously gave his <br />time to assist with this. <br />Also, have been speaking with Wally at Island Skills Gathering. <br />He sent me a Pocket Talker to try out. <br />Other: <br />One request for information re funding accessibility improvements <br />from non-profit agency; <br />One complaint re Social Security Benefits and Automobile <br />Insurance – referred to Center for Independent Living, Disability <br />Rights Hawaii; <br />One inquiry re using a golf cart on bike paths in Kauai – referred to <br />ADA Coordinator, Kauai; <br />One complaint re Hilo Farmers’ Market allegedly refusing to <br />provide parking spaces for people with disabilities and threatening <br />retaliation – referred Complainant to Disability Rights Hawaii and <br />also Hawaii Disability Rights <br />2 <br /> <br />
