<br />COMMITTEE ON PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES <br />Friday, September 1, 2006, 10:30 a.m. <br />Aupuni Center Conference Room <br />PRESENT: Ted Yamanaka, Vice-Chair; Denise Cowdrey, Jack Matsui, James Souza, <br />Laura Tobosa <br />EXCUSED: Lawrence Scadden, Chair; Betsy Whitney, Secretary; Michael Gleason <br />ABSENT: Julia Staten <br />GUESTS: Malina Dravis-Tucker, Interpreter; Karen Kotaki, Elderly Activities <br />Division/Coordinated Services for the Elderly; Ofelia Pertubal, CNA <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order at 10:35 a.m. An introduction of committee members, <br />staff, and guests was made. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />L. Tobosa made a motion to accept the minutes of August 4, 2006. J. Matsui seconded <br />the motion. The motion was passed with D. Cowdrey abstaining. <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ISSUES <br />None. <br />TREASURER’S REPORT <br />The treasurer’s report was reviewed. <br />L. Tobosa made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report as submitted. D. Cowdrey <br />seconded the motion. The motion was passed. <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br />None. <br />TEAM REPORTS <br />A. EDUCATION/PUBLIC AWARENESS TEAM – M. GLEASON <br />No report. <br />B. RECREATION TEAM – L. SCADDEN <br />D. Cowdrey reported that she went on a camping trip at Hapuna Beach Park during <br />the July 4 weekend with one of the participants that she works with at Goodwill <br />Industries. The restrooms have been recently remodeled and were made <br />accessible. The cabins were also remodeled so the doors are wider. However, <br />when the participant went to use the new low level shower, the shower came out in a <br />straight stream like a pressure washer.There was no adjustment to make it a fine <br />Hawai‘i County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer <br /> <br />
