MITCHENER <br />No report. <br />E. EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS – L. SCADDEN <br />No report. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />A. ELECTION OF OFFICERS <br />J. Souza made a motion to defer this item to the next meeting when more members <br />are present. D. Cowdrey seconded the motion. The motion was passed. <br />B. COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP <br />At the last meeting, L. Scadden asked MCPD to discuss committee membership <br />because the committee has not been able to make quorum with some members not <br />attending the meeting. He suggested at some of the members resigning and <br />possibly getting new members. However, MCPD indicated that the committee had a <br />difficult time recruiting new members from Kona. T. Yamanaka will inquire on <br />B. Whitney’s commitment to MCPD since she has not been attending the meetings. <br />T. Yamanaka offered to send an email to MCPD members inquiring about their <br />commitment to the committee. <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON NON-AGENDA ISSUES <br />K. Kotaki reported that the Elderly Activities Division/Coordinated Services for the <br />Elderly (EAD/CSE) has requested a total of $80,000 grant in aid from the State <br />Legislature for the purpose of purchasing one mini ramp van for the North/South Hilo <br />District and one eight passenger mini van for the North/South Kona District to service <br />the homeless and disabled elderly.
