Balberde-Kamalii said that the women’s hall of fame board will be done as a <br />plaque style since CSW does not have pictures of all the winners. <br />B.Essay Contest – C. Kitaoka <br />J. Balberde-Kamalii reported that she will obtain the names of the English teachers <br />for East Hawaii and possibly West Hawaii after school starts in August. <br />C.Hawaii County Women’s Hall of Fame – C. Ka-ipo <br />A. Mejia reported that Melveen Leed was informed about CSW’s decision to have <br />entertainment done by someone else. <br />N. Kelly, K. Nova, K. Peters, and D. Pung volunteered to be the judges. CSW <br />developed criteria which will be used for the judging.The deadline for nominations <br />is August 20, 2010. It was decided to do a conference call on August 25 at <br />4:00 p.m. <br />C. Kitaoka offered to contact Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel and follow up on the setup <br />fee. J. Viernes said she received special room rates for $129 per night plus tax and <br />the contract. <br />K. Peters suggested that CSW find out from C. Ka-ipo whether she will continue to <br />chair this event or not. CSW needs to know her decision and respect her wishes <br />before anyone takes further action. A. Mejia offered to contact C. Ka-ipo to get an <br />update and report back to CSW by this afternoon. <br />J. Viernes mentioned that she received a song list from entertainer, Maelan Abran. <br />CSW suggested that they review the list so the members can make their own <br />selection. <br />D.Voter Registration Booth – K. Schneider <br />K. Schneider reported that she did a voter registration booth at the Fourth of July <br />parade with the League of Women Voters. Hale Halawai was full of booths of <br />politicians. Secondly, she has secured a booth at the Kona Village Stroll on Alii <br />Drive. The dates are Sunday, July 18; Sunday, August 22; and Sunday, <br />September 19. Those dates were chosen because the registration deadline for the <br />primary is August 19 and the registration deadline for the general is October 4. <br />The set up takes place between 12:30 p.m. and 12:45 p.m. and break down is <br />6:00 p.m. K.
