Cars are allowed to drop off materials between 12:30 p.m. <br />and 12:45 p.m. and then they will allow the car back in between 6:00 p.m. and <br />6:15 p.m. to break down. They have secure parking for everyone that has booths <br />behind the old theater. She explained the parking situation during this event. <br />K. Nova said that the Kona Village Stroll has a different crowd than the Fourth of <br />July. There is music with a variety of bands. K. Schneider added that the Palace is <br />open and the location draws in the crowd. It may draw in a lot of tourist. <br />K. Schneider said she is looking for a pop up tent for shade, approximately a 10X10 <br />tent because booth spaces are not to exceed 10' x 10'. A. Mejia offered her tent, but <br />she needs to check on the dimensions first. Interested members were asked to <br />come for a few hours or an early or a late shift. <br />The League of Women Voters has said to let them know what CSW needs so <br />K. Schneider can start doing a coalition with them. The League is going to do a <br />booth two days right before the primary so they are doing August 18 and 19 at <br />Kmart. The League of Women Voters doesn’t do very much voter registration in Hilo <br />because Hilo gets a lot of people registering already. Kona seems to not have as <br />much people registering because you need to register when you move and there is a <br />little more transient population in Kona. K. Schneider suggested that CSW take a <br />handful of applications that they can distribute to people that they run into and talk to <br />at work as well. <br />K. Peters suggested utilizing the UH West Hawaii campus and register the new <br />students in the parking lot during the first day of classes. K. Schneider mentioned <br />that you can now register starting at age 16, but you cannot vote until age 18. <br />K. Peters indicated that since CSW has a booth, then the committee should use the <br />booth for public relations and show what they are doing. If electricity is available, <br />she would bring a TV and DVD player and play the teen dating violence video for <br />any passerby. K. Schneider said the Urgent Services Directory for Families will be <br />available and CSW can distribute information about the committee. <br />N. Kelly said that she has leftover pens and key chains from the teen dating violence <br />conference to use as giveaways. The books from Dr. Jill Murray can also be on <br />display and may be sold to interested people. <br />E.Teen Dating Violence Prevention <br />C. Kitaoka reported that they will have an event at the Kona Village Stroll on July 18. <br />N. Kelly reported that they had planned to distribute sets of books to the middle and <br />high schools accompanied by a letter. C.
