E. Cabatu agreed to utilize funding from the Hawaii State Commission on the Status of Women (HSCSW) for the equal pay radio spots for $1,665.00. K. Peters indicated that $1,600, which is a portion of the $3,000-$4,000 funding from the HSCSW, can be designated to equal pay legislation and the majority of it can be used towards the “get out the vote” campaign. J. Viernes reported that the following are current expenses for the essay contest: Borders gift cards - $900; spiral binding combs - $16.67; lunch – 57 adults @ $25, 6 children @ $19. C. Kitaoka stated that Big Island Candies donated gifts and they will be given to the “Real Women,” Mayor’s representative, and council representative so the committee will not be purchasing leis. N. Kelly said that she will have a better determination of CSW’s budget after the essay contest. In addition, committee members should be carpooling for the next few meetings and the committee should limit the cost of lunch per person. C. Kitaoka added that there will be no mileage claim if CSW members rode in a county car with N. Kelly or herself. D. Pung moved to accept the treasurer’s report. A. Mejia seconded the motion. The motion was passed. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC None. CORRESPONDENCE None. REPORTS A.Education 1.Urgent Services Directory J. Viernes reported that she received a proposal from a UHH student who is willing to update the directory as a school project. 2.First Female Booklet After some discussion, J. Balberde-Kamalii offered to ask Ben Franklin Crafts to help put together the display board for CSW. K. Peters offered to edit the booklet. J. Balberde-Kamalii questioned the purpose and the intent of the booklet. Where would the board be displayed and what population will be targeted? D. Pung responded that the board will be displayed at the Women’s Hall of Fame and at all of CSW’s events. 2
