D. Pung moved to accept the treasurer’s report. A. Mejia seconded the motion. The <br />motion was passed. <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />None. <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br />A.Thank you card from Kitty Lyons, Holualoa Elementary School teacher regarding the <br />“Real Women” creative writing competition <br />REPORTS <br />A.Education <br />1.Urgent Services Directory <br />J. Viernes reported that people/organizations contact her if they want copies of <br />the directory. <br />A. Mejia said that she dropped off a bunch of directories at UH Hilo and the <br />Hawaii Community College. J. Balberde-Kamalii said that she distributed the <br />directories to school based therapists in the Hilo complex. <br />2.First Female Booklet <br />A. Mejia and D. Pung will work together on the display board and have it ready <br />for display at the essay contest awards ceremony even though it’s not complete. <br />J. Balberde-Kamalii suggested that CSW ask Ben Franklin Crafts to put together <br />the display board as a community service project. She will inquire with a friend <br />who is a buyer at the store regarding this project. <br />3.Essay Contest <br />The deadline to turn in the RSVP postcard is March 12, 2010. <br />C. Kitaoka reported that everything is all set up for the essay contest awards <br />luncheon scheduled for Sunday, March 21, 2010, from 10:30 a.m. at the Hapuna <br />Beach Prince Hotel. She asked CSW members to be present half an hour before <br />the event start. The emcee will be E. Cabatu. <br />E. Cabatu inquired whether the radio spots for equal pay day can be previewed <br />at the luncheon and C. Kitaoka said it was okay. <br />J. Balberde-Kamalii offered to help C. Kitaoka follow up with the principal of a <br />th <br />12 grade student who wrote a questionable essay. <br />4.Hawaii County Women’s Hall of Fame <br />A. Mejia shared some sample awards from Trophy Case for CSW members to <br />look at. The awards price range from $17 to $40. <br />2 <br /> <br />
