A. Mejia suggested that CSW request from the Mayor a letter of appreciation for <br />entertainer Melveen Leed for her years of service. <br />A. Mejia stated that they are looking at having the event either in September or <br />October at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel. <br />5.Equal Pay <br />E. Cabatu reported that New West Broadcasting, Corp. (KWXX, B97, KPUA) is <br />proposing 105 spots with matching spots for a total of 210 spots for $1,640.61 or <br />420 spots for two weeks for $3,281.23. Pacific Radio Group (KBIG, KAPA, <br />Native FM) is proposing 63 spots for $1,665.00. <br />The Hawaii State Commission on the Status of Women (HSCSW) has funding of <br />$3,000 to $4,000 for each county to “get out the vote.” This will involve some <br />women’s group to go outside of Wal Mart in Hilo or Kona and register people to <br />vote or hold an event. E. Cabatu suggested that the funding can also be used for <br />radio spots for Women’s Health Week in May. Furthermore, the money needs to <br />be spent by June 30, 2010. <br />K. Peters suggested partnering with student civic groups to come out and <br />register young people to vote. K. Schneider pointed out that when she talks to <br />women about voting, especially the ones that have not registered and have not <br />voted and she asks them why, their response is because they don’t know the <br />issues. <br />J. Balberde-Kamalii suggested co-sponsoring an event with UH Hilo and invite 18 <br />year old high school students, community college students, etc. to attend. <br />K. Peters moved to spend $1,640.61 (210 spots) for the New West Broadcasting <br />Corp. package from April 12-18, 2010. J. Balberde-Kamalii seconded the <br />motion. After some discussion, E. Cabatu and K. Peters agreed to work on the <br />script. CSW suggested having a spot for Hilo and a popular high school guy <br />reading the script for Kona. The motion was passed. <br />B.Health <br />1.Women’s Health Month <br />E. Cabatu reported that CSW agreed to partner with Hui Malama Ola Na Oiwi for <br />their Ladies Night Out event which will be held on the first week of October. <br />C.Liaison <br />1.HSCSW <br />E. Cabatu reported that she will inform the HSCSW that CSW will gladly accept <br />the $3,000 to $4,000 and spend it wisely. <br />E. Cabatu suggested that CSW do a radio spot saying “get out the vote.” She <br />asked if CSW members can get the Kona women to do outreach in Kona and the <br />3 <br /> <br />
