B.Health <br />1.Women’s Health Month <br />E. Cabatu reported that the East Hawaii Perinatal Consortium does a women’s <br />health week in May. She suggested that CSW have an event in Women’s Health <br />Month that is not labor intensive such as radio ads or do talk shows about women’s <br />health issues. Therefore, CSW need to decide what they want to do depending on <br />funding. <br />C.Liaison <br />1.HSCSW <br />E. Cabatu reported that she did not attend the last commission meeting. Secondly, <br />the U.N. Conference on Women is coming up. Also, Women’s History Month 2010 <br />th <br />is the 30 anniversary and the national theme is “Writing Women Back into History.” <br />S. Ferguson-Quick would like to see a push or nomination for writing Hawaiian <br />women back into history and maybe CSW would like to make a suggestion or <br />recommendation of a Hawaiian woman. <br />C. Ka-ipo stated there are a lot of prominent Hawaiian females such as Queen <br />Emma, Princess Ruth, and Queen Liliuokalani. <br />2.Legislative Update <br />E. Cabatu reported that S. Ferguson-Quick will be meeting with the Women’s <br />Coalition towards the end of October or early November. The budget priority is the <br />family equality issue. <br />There will be a march, “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes,” scheduled for Saturday, <br />October 17, 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. to stop rape, sexual assault, and gender violence. <br />D.Community Reports <br />None. <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A.Teen Dating Violence Prevention Peer Education Conference <br />C. Kitaoka reported that the person who is copying the DVD is currently working on it. <br />The committee discussed the book distribution. CSW suggested distributing it to the <br />Hawaii Community College, public and private high schools, UHH Women’s Center, <br />Salvation Army-Family Intervention Program, and shelters.C. Kitaoka suggested that <br />a letter from CSW accompany the books and DVD, but the schools should have first <br />priority. N. Kelly said she will ask one of her co-workers to prepare a list of <br />organizations that are involved with domestic violence. The target date for distribution <br />of the books is by December. C. Ka-ipo will draft the letter and N. Kelly will prepare <br />labels for the books. <br />B.Teens Internet Protection – A. Mejia <br />A. Mejia reported that she coordinated a teens internet protection presentation by <br />Police Officer Edwin Namohala, Jr. and Detective John Ancheta for parents from <br />3 <br /> <br />
