to sponsor the ads and refreshments. K. Nova offered to prepare a detailed <br />budget for the next meeting. <br />K. Nova moved that CSW sponsor an event around managing stress and our <br />difficult times along with providing financial information which will be held this <br />fiscal year. M. Sherman seconded the motion. The motion was passed. <br />CSW agreed to support the East Hawaii Local Area Consortium Community <br />Health Fair for Women on May 17, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Keaau <br />Shipman Park. <br />C. Liaison <br />1. HSCSW <br />No report. <br />2. Legislative Update <br />K. Nova read an email that E. Cabatu sent which suggested that CSW designate <br />three to five bills that they would like to monitor and advocate/oppose. She will <br />give the committee a voice in the legislative process and she also volunteered for <br />writing testimony for the committee. On a personal note, E. Cabatu is putting a <br />lot of her energies to seeing the Civil Union bill pass and she would like to invite <br />the committee to support this as well. <br />Tabled. <br />D. Community Reports <br />None. <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. Teen Dating Violence Prevention Peer Education Conference <br />C. Kitaoka reported that she met with Kathy Jo Kube, Department of Education, and <br />they are willing to coordinate this event with CSW. The presentations will be held on <br />either April 27-29, 2009, May 4-6, 2009, or May 11-13, 2009. Dr. Jill Murray has <br />indicated that she is available during those times and she has suggested that her <br />travel time begins on a Sunday so she will not charge for her travel time. The <br />schools that Dr. J. Murray will be attending are Honokaa, Kealakehe, and <br />Konawaena and she will do a suicide depression at those schools. Other possible <br />schools are Keaau High School and Kohala High School. <br />Presentations will be at the following: Konawaena and Kealakehe – one day; <br />Honokaa and Kohala – one day; and East Hawaii schools – one day. An evening <br />presentation with the Soroptimist and agencies in West Hawaii. A. Mejia suggested <br />a presentation at the University of Hawaii which she will inquire about getting a grant <br />to cover Dr. J. Murray’s expenses. <br />4 <br /> <br />
