C. Liaison <br />1. HSCSW <br />E. Cabatu reported that funding for airfare is needed in order to have the <br />students attend the 2009 International Women’s Leadership Conference in <br />September, since the registration fee is waived. E. Cabatu stated that she <br />wishes to take one student from Hawaii Island to the state of the state <br />address in January. <br />2. Legislative Update <br />The Women’s legislative package will be ready in January 2009. <br />D. Community Reports <br />None. <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. Teen Dating Violence Prevention Peer Education Conference <br />K. Nova spoke to the Soroptomist Club about donating money for hotel, <br />airfare, and putting on events. The Board will consider the request and get in <br />touch with K. Nova. <br />B. Teens Internet Protection - A. Mejia <br />A. Mejia reported that Community Policing works with the students about the <br />internet room and internet crime. The Attorney General gives talks for the <br />adults. <br />C. 2008 International Women’s Leadership Conference – A. Mejia <br />A. Mejia stated that the conference was inspiring and amazed with the <br />women presenters. She has pictures which she will share at the next <br />meeting. She expressed her thanks for the opportunity. CSW members <br />commented that a speaker could come to the island during the week that they <br />are available to speak at the college or high schools. E. Cabatu can <br />chaperone the girls to the Conference if the committee can raise the airfare. <br />K. Nova suggested that women business owners be asked for airfare for a <br />girl. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />None. <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />A. Next Meeting <br />The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at <br />10:00 a.m. in the Department of Liquor Control conference room located in <br />Kona. <br />3 <br /> <br />
