<br />COMMITTEE ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN <br />Friday, October 17, 2008, 10:00 a.m. <br />Aupuni Center Conference Room <br />PRESENT EXCUSED <br />Katie Nova, Chair Ellen Takazawa, Secretary <br />Carol Kitaoka, Vice-Chair Andrea Mejia <br />Nancy Kelly, Treasurer Julie Mecklenburg, Corporation Counsel <br />Charmaine Ka-ipo (ex-officio) <br />Kathleen Peters <br />Dawn Pung GUEST <br />Elena Cabatu, HSCSW Commissioner Kathleen McNally, YWCA Human <br /> (ex-officio) Resource Manager <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order at 10:20 a.m. <br />ROLL CALL <br />A quorum was present. <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />N. Kelly moved to approve the agenda as submitted. K. Peters seconded the motion. <br />The motion was passed. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />K. Peters moved to approve the September 19, 2008 minutes. N. Kelly seconded the <br />motion. The motion was passed. <br />TREASURER’S REPORT <br />The treasurer’s report was circulated. N. Kelly reported that there was a manual <br />correction made which will be reflected in next month’s treasurer’s report. <br />J. Viernes reported that an appropriation of $15,000 was received from Council member <br />Brenda Ford for the Teen Dating Violence conference which is reflected in today’s <br />treasurer’s report. Outstanding expenditures are Jade Moon’s expenses from the <br />Women’s Hall of Fame. <br />K. Peters moved to accept the treasurer’s report. C. Ka-ipo seconded the motion. The <br />motion was passed. <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />K. McNally introduced herself as the new Human Resource Manager at the YWCA. <br />The Executive Director of the YWCA, Cynthia Albers, would like to join in the efforts of <br />th <br />the committee and be an active part of this group. She circulated a flyer about the 20 <br />Annual Family Peace Walk & Vigil for this evening and a copy of the YWCA newsletter. <br />Hawai‘i County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer <br /> <br />
