First Female Booklet Tabled. 3. Essay Contest C. Kitaoka reported that she prepared a budget, but she forgot to bring it today. Secondly, she attended a County Council meeting in Kona to testify for funding for the essay contest and the committee received $1,000 from Council member A. Pilago. C. Kitaoka asked C. Ka-ipo whether she could obtain lunch quotes at the Naniloa Volcanoes Resort, Polynesian Room. C. Ka-ipo said that she received a special offer for a prime rib buffet of $36.50 per person. The Polynesian Room has also been renovated and the ambiance is beautiful. The room accommodates approximately 300 people. C. Kitaoka said that the luncheon awards ceremony will be scheduled for Sunday, March 8, 2009. She received a quote of $28.51 per person for lunch at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel. She will inquire with the hotel again on getting a cheaper kid friendly menu. Another alternative is the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort and Spa. However, lunch is not a buffet style. Lunch cost is $25 per person for a box lunch. K. Peters stated that parking is free at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel. A lot of families can go to the beach and it is nice for them to go to the hotel. E. Cabatu requested that Terrie Henderson from the Hawaii Tribune Herald be a judge. K. Peters asked if a student has to go through a teacher in order to participate. She suggested that CSW put a notice in the newspaper for publicity to spark some of the teachers to participate. E. Cabatu offered to ask T. Henderson to do the publicity. 2
