<br />COMMITTEE ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN <br />Thursday, August 14, 2008, 10:00 a.m. <br />Waimea Civic Center Conference Room <br />PRESENT EXCUSED <br />Katie Nova, Chair Ellen Takazawa, Secretary <br />Carol Kitaoka, Vice-Chair Nancy Kelly, Treasurer <br />Andrea Mejia Julie Mecklenburg, Corporation Counsel <br />Kathleen Peters (ex-officio) <br />Dawn Pung <br />Elena Cabatu, HSCSW Commissioner ABSENT <br /> (ex-officio) Charmaine Ka-ipo <br /> GUEST <br /> Mary Andrews <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order at 10:10 a.m. <br />ROLL CALL <br />A quorum was present. <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />D. Pung moved to approve the agenda as submitted. A. Mejia seconded the motion. <br />The motion was passed. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />D. Pung moved to approve the July 18, 2008 minutes. C. Kitaoka seconded the motion. <br />The motion was passed. <br />TREASURER’S REPORT <br />The treasurer’s reports were circulated. Last fiscal year’s report reflect the leftover <br />balance which lapsed and was returned to the general fund. <br />C. Kitaoka moved to accept the treasurer’s report. A. Mejia seconded the motion. The <br />motion was passed. <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />M. Andrews reported that she would like to give a report in the future to CSW about <br />what they are doing in the nursing program at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br />A. Contingency Relief Funds Request from Council Member Emily Naeole to CSW for <br />the Essay Contest ($500), Women’s Hall of Fame ($500), and the Teen Dating <br />Violence Conference ($1,000) <br />Hawai‘i County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer <br /> <br />
