B. Copy of a letter from Mayor Harry Kim to Janet Coburn, CSW member accepting her <br />resignation <br />C. Pennsylvania Commission for Women Newsletter <br />REPORTS <br />A. Education <br />1. Urgent Services Directory <br />D. Pung reported that a revised directory is available for distribution. <br />2. First Female Booklet <br />A. Mejia reported that C. Ka-ipo and E. Takazawa volunteered to follow up with <br />those women who do not have a photo in the booklet. She tried to obtain a quote <br />from a vendor and she was unable to get an estimate of the booklet because of <br />written protocol. She asked if the booklet should be submitted as is because the <br />committee has already approved printing 500 copies or lessen the amount. <br />C. Kitaoka felt that CSW should get an estimate since the committee has no <br />funds at this time. D. Pung suggested that CSW hold off on printing the booklet <br />since the committee has no money. K. Peters suggested sending out the booklet <br />for estimates from a private party. <br />After some discussion, CSW decided that A. Mejia obtain quotes for 100, 300, <br />and 500 copies from Hawaii Printing Corporation. <br />3. Essay Contest <br />C. Kitaoka reported that a permission letter was mailed to the complex area <br />superintendents on August 8, 2008. The initial packet will be mailed out on <br />August 20, 2008. The essay competition will be from September 8, 2008 to <br />December 12, 2008. Entries must be postmarked by December 12, 2008. The <br />judging period is from January 5-26, 2008. The luncheon awards ceremony will <br />be held on either March 8, 2009 or March 15, 2009. A location has not been <br />determined at this time. Lunch will not be subsidized next year. <br />K. Nova suggested that C. Kitaoka prepare a budget so CSW can make <br />decisions on where money will go. C. Kitaoka said that she already reduced the <br />savings bond awards for first, second, and third place. The teachers will receive <br />a gift. <br />4. Hawaii County Women’s Hall of Fame <br />K. Nova read a report from N. Kelly on approving a stipend of $200-$250 for <br />J. Moon, requesting volunteer judges, and extending the deadline to receive <br />nominations. <br />K. Nova, K. Peters, A. Mejia, and D. Pung volunteered to be the judges. <br />2 <br /> <br />
