Education <br />1. Urgent Services Directory <br />D. Pung reported that the directory is available on the County of Hawaii’s website <br />for printing. <br />E. Takazawa offered to distribute the directory to the hospitals and the University <br />of Hawaii. <br />2. First Female Booklet <br />After some discussion, it was suggested that A. Mejia get three quotes for 100, <br />300, and 500 copies from the print shop and quotes for different binding. She will <br />provide a report at the next meeting. <br />3. Essay Contest <br />C. Kitaoka reported that Borders gift cards were given to judges who didn’t attend <br />the awards luncheon. The cost for the event was approximately $6,000. The <br />lunch cost $32, but CSW charged $25 to participants. <br />C. Kitaoka said that CSW needs to get the schools from West Hawaii to <br />participate. She tried taking the essay contest packet directly to the English <br />teachers and it didn’t help. Holualoa School is the only school from West Hawaii <br />that participated. C. Kitaoka said that E. Cabatu mentioned to her that she had <br />ways of getting it out there for next year.K. Peters stated that she could work on <br />Kohala Elementary School and Kahakai Elementary School to participate. <br />E. Takazawa said that she will contact E. Cabatu to see if she needs assistance <br />in getting the essay contest winners on the radio. <br />C. Kitaoka asked for any volunteers to coordinate the essay contest for next <br />year. She dislikes doing the program, but she doesn’t mind doing the rest of the <br />contest. CSW suggested that she assign a member to emcee the program. <br />K. Peters suggested hiring an emcee or maybe B. Ford or A. Pilago could emcee <br />the program. <br />2 <br /> <br />
