K. Peters moved that CSW order the kits through National Depression Screening
Day and the amount to be determined. N. Kelly seconded the motion. It was
decided that CSW purchase one full kit at $195 and two older adult kits at $95.
The motion was passed.
C. Liaison
1. HSCSW
No report.
2. Legislative Update
The Hawaii Women’s Coalition Package 2008 and Hawaii Women’s Caucus
2008 was circulated to CSW members.
D. Community Reports
No report.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. Teen Dating Violence Prevention Peer Education Conference
C. Kitaoka reported that she is stuck on the contacts with the Department of
Education. The biggest problem now is that they are on spring break. She
suggested bringing Dr. Jill Murray for three days to the Big Island in April. CSW
suggested that presentations will be coordinated at Keaau High School, Kohala
Elementary School, Honokaa High School, Parker School, HPA, and Hilo High
School.
N. Kelly said that she found out that it’s better to do one big session for one grade
level or intermediate schools. K. Nova suggested doing a community presentation
at night. CSW agreed it was well received in Hilo.
K. Peters felt it would be worth spending the money to get a nice videotape available
to people. C. Kitaoka said she could request for a copy of the Kealakehe
presentation by Dr. J. Murray. C. Kitaoka suggested that the committee purchase
the books from Borders instead of ordering it from Dr. J. Murray. N. Kelly said that
all the books were sold in Hilo.
NEW BUSINESS
A. CSW Meeting Date
C. Kitaoka reported that she has court every Friday which conflicts with CSW’s
meeting date. She felt that she should not attend the Hilo meetings at all and move
the Waimea meetings to the third Thursday of each month. E. Takazawa moved to
accept C. Kitaoka’s proposal to move the Waimea meetings to the third Thursday of
each month for the whole year. A. Mejia seconded the motion. The Waimea
meetings for this year are: May 15, 2008, August 14, 2008, and November 20,
2008. The motion was passed.
4
