C. Liaison <br />1. HSCSW <br />M. Masunaga reported that the Hawaii State Commission on the Status of <br />Women (HSCSW) had a meeting on February 16, 2007. She met with Senator <br />Colleen Hanabusa in the afternoon and also with Sachiko Takato from <br />Hiroshima, Japan and InnHea Park from Seoul, South Korea. The HSCSW are <br />collaborating with S. Takato and I. Park to try and improve the domestic violence <br />hotline in Japan and in South Korea. The HSCSW and the Pay Equity Task <br />Force have no meeting scheduled yet. <br />2. Legislative Update <br />M. Masunaga reported that she has written legislation for a $53,000 <br />appropriation so that the HSCSWcan have funds to do projects, neighbor island <br />commissioners can attend meetings, and for simple office expenses. This past <br />Monday she submitted testimony. Senator Clayton Hee, Senate Judiciary Chair, <br />and Representative Marcus Oshiro, House Finance Chair, both support the <br />appropriation. <br />D. Marketing <br />1. Newsletter <br />Tabled. <br />E. Community Reports <br />M. Masunaga circulated photos of her daughter, C. Masunaga, who won a <br />community volunteer award from the Soroptimist International of Kona which was <br />held on February 27, 2007. <br />L. Guluzzy reported that Alert Alarm of Hawaii has instituted mandatory trainings for <br />all staff on all types of harassment. Corporate management has gone through the <br />trainings. She hopes that becomes the norm in all businesses in Hawaii County and <br />the State of Hawaii. In addition, Alert Alarm of Hawaii has been recognized <br />nationally for being dealer of the year for overall business practices for 2006. <br />C. Kitaoka mentioned that Kathy Jo Kube was planning to attend todays meeting to <br />provideinformationaboutviolenceintheschools.Shemaysubmitsomethingin <br />writing or attend the next Kona meeting. <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. Teen Dating Violence Prevention Peer Education Conference <br />C. Kitaoka suggested that K. Nova contact Dr. Jill Murray to see whether CSW can <br />plansomethingtogetherwithher.Therewillbesomefundsleftoverfromthe <br />conference to help pay for part of J. Murrays fee before the fiscal year ends. <br />N.KellyisalsotryingtoworksomethingwiththeProsecutorsOfficeforfundingand <br />there may be other funding sources. <br />4 <br /> <br />
