The Hilo Hawaiian Hotel is well maintained. K. Peters said it would befair to alternate the location and be flexible with the date. C. Ka-ipo agreed to contact the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel and she left a message to inquire whether October 7 or October 14 was available. B. Health 1. Womens Health Month Tabled. C. Liaison 1. HSCSW M. Masunaga reported that the HSCSW had a meeting on Wednesday, January 18, on Oahu. They also met with the legislators since it was also the opening day of the legislature. They had a wonderful speaker, Lillian Koller, Director of the State Department of Human Services, and she had a presentation about different issues affecting women and children. The DHS is working with Goodwill Industries on the UFUE and SEE Program. Hawaii received some federal funding for two programs. M. Masunaga informed Director Koller that people in West Hawaii would be interested in hearing more about this program and the Director said she would be willing to fly over to speak to community groups. DHS is looking at what funds are available at the federal level through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The next HSCSW meeting is scheduled for Friday, February 24, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. on Oahu. 2.LegislativeUpdate M. Masunaga circulated the Hawaii Womens Coalition 2006 Legislative Package Summary. Copies will be provided for CSW members. The full bill is available online. D. Marketing 1. Newsletter Tabled. E. Community Reports S. Newland reported that the domestic harmony awareness poster contest is underway. She is also working on a concert for the first weekend in March because thatiswhentheVaginaMonologuesishappening.Theconcertwillbededicated to Sarah Fay. Andy Smith will read the Governors Proclamation. J. Balberde-Kamalii reported that she will be providing two workshops on establishingrelationshipswithadultsatUpwardBound.Theworkshopswillcover the high schools islandwide.
