Resignations and Appointments <br />D. Pung reported that N. Kelly and K. Nova are the new appointments to CSW. <br />B. Nominating Committee <br />D. Pung reported that CSW needs two people to serve on the nominating committee <br />with S. Newland to present a slate for secretary. A slate needs to be prepared and <br />emailed to J. Viernes so she can disseminate it to CSW members for the next <br />meeting. C. Ka-ipo and K. Peters volunteered to serve on the nominating <br />committee. <br />C. Teen Dating Violence Prevention Initiative Training Program <br />C. Kitaoka reported that the islandwide training will be held on April 5, 6, or 7 in <br />Waikoloa. The DOE Personnel, law enforcement personnel, attorneys, and students <br />are among the participants to be included in the one-day conference. Each district <br />superintendent will be asked to make sure that at least one school in each district <br />have a school assembly. <br />M. Masunaga reported that she will be going to Washington, D.C. for the launching <br />of the national Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Week on <br />February 6, 2006. Governor Linda Lingle will be doing a proclamation declaring the <br />week of February 6 as Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Week for <br />the State. M. Masunaga said she will be drafting a proclamation for the Counties of <br />Hawaii, Maui, Kauai, and the City and County of Honolulu. <br />D.GEMSProgram <br />A final report of the GEMS 2005 submitted by Kiera Horgan, GEMS Chair was <br />distributed to CSW members. <br />E. Bullying The Next Step <br />S. Domingo said there is a Hawaii Island Anti Bullying Coalition. The coalition meets <br />once a month in Hilo and they discuss issues on bullying. They are focusing a lot on <br />bullying in school and they are trying to address the bullying issue in elementary <br />school. It is a big problem for girls in junior high and high school. However, they <br />have not addressed bullying in the workplace. Through the coalition, they have <br />arranged for guest speakers come to the schools and talk about bullying. The <br />coalition meeting is open to the public and Susan Labrenz is the contact person. <br />The coalition also partners with the public health nurses. S. Domingo suggested <br />that CSW partner with the coalition. <br />N. Kelly reported that the Prosecutors Office is looking at juvenile delinquency <br />prevention.Theywentthroughaprocessofdeterminingpriorityriskfactorsandone <br />5 <br /> <br />
