Masunaga attended the American Bar Association Teen <br />Dating Violence Prevention Initiative Steering Committee in Chicago to follow up and <br />to organize the tool kit that will be distributed to the schools in February. She <br />requested that CSW approve $275 from the Teen Dating Violence Prevention <br />Initiative Training Program budget ($15,000) to pay for half of her airfare. <br />C. Kitaoka moved that CSW use $275 of the Teen Dating Violence Prevention <br />Initiative Training Program budget to pay for half of the airfare for M. Masunaga. <br />J. Balberde-Kamalii seconded the motion. The motion was passed. <br />C.GEMS Program <br />M. Masunaga indicated that interested CSW members who would like to attend the <br />Girls Exploring Math and Science program to be held on Thursday, October 20, <br />2005, at the Outrigger Keauhou Beach Resort should contact Kiera Horgan, GEMS <br />2005 Chair. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />A.New Committees <br />None. <br />B.Sponsorships and Co-Sponsorships <br />None. <br />C.Guest Speakers <br />M. Masunaga reported that Malia Kamaka, new Big Island commissioner for the <br />Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, has been invited to lunch as the guest <br />speaker today. She will be stopping by to have coffee and dessert. <br />D.International Women’s Conference – September 14-15, 2005 <br />D. Pung reported that CSW members received the registration forms for the <br />conference to be held on September 14-15, 2005 on Oahu. <br />M. Masunaga recommended that CSW give first preference to committee members <br />who were unable to attend last year due to limited funding. She also suggested that <br />J. Viernes attend as well. <br />M. Masunaga mentioned that the Governor’s Office has allotted slots for the <br />HSCSW commissioner and one slot from the Big Island. They requested that either <br />C. Kitaoka or the state student representative, Kellie Kitaoka attend the conference. <br />J. Balberde-Kamalii inquired about partial financial support from CSW because the <br />Department of Education is willing to pay for registration and car rental, but not hotel <br />accommodations and airfare. She would liketo take two girls from their alternative <br />learning site to attend the conference. <br />5 <br /> <br />
