Masunaga said they are waiting to find out how many studentswill <br />be funded and if they are limiting the number of community volunteers that will be <br />coming. In addition, K. Peters will be providing a talk on issues affecting middle <br />school kids. <br />M. Masunaga stated that she spoke to C. Kitaoka about a small group mentoring <br />program called Living Healthy for Young Girls. <br />6. Hawaii County Womens Hall of Fame <br />No report. <br />J. Viernes reported that CSWs expenses for the dinner was approximately <br />$1,200. <br />B. Health <br />1. Womens Health Month <br />M. Masunaga reported that she would like to do a follow up on the Womens <br />Financial Seminar in Kona this year. She is encouraging Dale Suezakis <br />counterpart in Hilo to do a seminar. However, there are concerns about territorial <br />limits so it may be difficult to start a program in Hilo. She will ask Kim Jackson or <br />another estate planning attorney to see if they would like to present a workshop. <br />E. Takazawa mentioned that CSW could apply for the $2,000 grant from the <br />HSCSW for Womens Health Month if its available this year. <br />M. Masunaga described the different events held islandwide for Womens Health <br />Month. <br />C. Kitaoka mentioned that she would like to have a Teen Dating Violence <br />speaker in September or October. <br />J. Balberde-Kamalii said that October is National Domestic Violence Awareness <br />Month.ShesuggestedobtainingresourcesfromChildandFamilyServiceand <br />Turning Point for Families. <br />C. Ka-ipo stated that she would like to focus on young women and ice. She <br />couldworkwithC.KitaokaingettingfundsfromProsecutingAttorney, <br />Jay Kimura and also work with M. Masunaga in trying to get funds from U.S. <br />Attorney,EdKubo.C.Ka-iposaidshewouldliketoinviteMelveenLeedto <br />provide entertainment for Womens Health Month. <br />4 <br /> <br />
