Takazawa pointed out that mentors traditionally has done their services for <br />free. She did not feel that CSW need to pay these mentors. A lei and lunch is <br />sufficient for their services. J. Balberde-Kamalii added that CSW could also <br />provide a Certificate of Appreciation for their involvement or small omiyage. <br />D. Pung said it will be more to the mentorÓs advantage if their name and photo is <br />publicized in the newspaper. <br />M. Lake suggested that P. Newland seek a grant for future programs. <br />J. Balberde-Kamalii recommended that it be the responsibility of the participant if <br />any monies are being expended. <br />J. Balberde-Kamalii asked whether or not CSW should purchase some of the <br />make up that will be used. Perhaps MacyÓs could donate the supp <br />makeover. M. Masunaga mentioned that there are representatives from Mary <br />Kay or Avon who would be willing to do this for free and provide free samples. <br />L. Guluzzy said that the different designers (Covergirl, Estee L <br />budgets for free samples if contacted. <br />E. Takazawa moved to amend the proposal to remove the honorariums and fund <br />the balance of the proposal for $487. M. Lake seconded the moti <br />J. Project proposal. The W.A.V.E.S. Project <br />is to reach girls that arenÓt already in sports or havenÓt had that much exposure in <br />sports. The plan is to present it to 4H groups and to the girls at the Kona <br />Hongwanji Dharma School. <br />L. Guluzzy moved to accept the proposal as presented. E. Takaza <br />the motion. D. Pung questioned if there is another target group besides the 4H <br />groups. C. Kitaoka replied that she recommended the 4H groups because they <br />are more the craft and cooking people. M. Masunaga indicated that the 4H <br />groups are not athletic so they would be the target group. L. Guluzzy said that <br />she likes the education of sunscreen because there is medical difficulty in getting <br />skin doctors on this island. E. Takazawa stated that she would like the 4H <br />groups to do a presentation within their classroom about this project. L. Guluzzy <br />offered tennis rackets through her husband from the USTA. J. Balberde-Kamalii <br />suggested a sports shop to donate the visors and a print shop to print the logo on <br />the visor. CSW raised concerns about the transportation costs. <br />L.
