L. Guluzzy offered to assist in recruiting the Kona schools to participate next <br />year. J. Balberde-Kamalii said that better communication needs <br />the Charter Schools. <br />E. Takazawa recommended D. Escalona as the photographer for next year <br />again. <br />4. Equal Pay Day <br />M. Lake reported that CSW will be sponsoring an Equal Pay Day brown bag <br />lunch seminar on Tuesday, April 20, 2004, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the MayorÓs <br />Lanai. Guest speaker will be Ah Quon McElrath. <br />M. Lake offered to do the publicity/press release for the Equal Pay Day seminar. <br />E. Takazawa mentioned that the refreshments will include water with lemon <br />slices, juice, and cookies. J. Viernes agreed to pick up the refreshments, cups, <br />napkins, and a lei. <br />L. Guluzzy agreed to prepare a flower arrangement for the refreshment table. <br />5. Mentoring <br />M. Masunaga reported that the lunch/dinner has been targeted for May 8. She <br />may purchase the books at Borders instead of Costco. She will hand deliver the <br />invitations to the students. She informed the SCBM at Konawaena Middle <br />School that the speaker included in the budget may not be funded. Therefore, <br />her proposal request has been revised to $1,356. Approval has b <br />the school administration to proceed with the proposal. <br />L. Guluzzy moved to accept the proposal and the expenditure of $1,356 from <br />miscellaneous contract services for the mentoring program. D. Pung seconded <br />the motion. D. Pung suggested sharing this project with East Hawaii. <br />M. Masunaga responded that it would be easy to duplicate the program if there <br />was a target group. The motion was passed. <br />P. Newland reviewed her proposal for Pahoa High and Intermediate <br />students. The event date has been targeted for mid May. <br />J. Viernes raised a concern about providing honorariums to various people <br />involved with the project. L. Guluzzy requested clarification on having belly <br />dancers performed. Secondly, she did not understand how manners and <br />etiquette correlate with dance. She has questions about spendin <br />on belly dancers and there would be other questions from the public also. <br />P. Newland said that the honorariums were a thank you gift for coming to the <br />event. Secondly, Middle Eastern dance is an activity that keeps <br />3 <br /> <br />
