2. Legislative Update <br />None. <br />D. MARKETING <br />1. Newsletter <br />S. Shirachi reported that she has received many positive comments about the <br />newsletter. She acknowledged graphic artist N. Los Banos who helped her <br />create the newsletter. The next publication is the winter edition. The deadline to <br />submit articles is October 31. <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. Resignations and appointments <br />M. Lake announced two interested applicants in serving on CSW. <br />applications from JoAnne Balberde-Kamalii and Elizabeth Boychuk. <br />C. Hara reported that Laura Guluzzy from Kona was interested in serving on CSW at <br />the time when the application for M. Lake was being mailed in to <br />W. Hatada stated that the County Administration wants to have balance of <br />representation from the entire island, including West Hawaii representation. <br />S. Shirachi made a motion that CSW recommend L. Guluzzy to replace M. Andrews. <br />C. Hara seconded the motion. The motion was passed. <br />B. Nominating Committee <br />No report. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />A. New Committees <br />S. Nakoa expressed her concerns that there needs to be someone to coordinate all <br />the events for Women's Health Month. <br />B. Sponsorships and Co-Sponsorships <br />None. <br />C. Guest Speakers <br />M. Lake will be inviting Senator Lorraine Inouye to the next meeting to do a follow up <br />on long-term care insurance. <br />S. Nakoa reported that she would like to invite Andy Winer, a lawyer, as a guest <br />speaker. He recently got involved with a national organization called Emily's List. <br />The organization is like a boot camp for young women political candidates who are <br />pro choice. Emily's List targeted Hawaii where abortion issue could become a real <br />issue in the future. Trainings are held for women who are thinking about running for <br />office and providing them guidance, support, and how to fundraise. S. Nakoa <br />offered to follow up with A. Winer since CSW was interested in inviting him as a <br />guest speaker in the future. <br />5 <br /> <br />
