NEW BUSINESS <br />7. (taken out of order): <br />DISCUSSION AND DECISIONMAKING: SELECTION OF NOMINATING COMMITTEE <br />FOR 2008 OFFICERS <br />Chair Witcher appointed Erway as Chair of the nominating committee. <br />Erway selected Commission members Sumner and Sanborn to serve on the committee. <br />Committee will report back their recommendations at the next meeting. <br />DISCUSSION: UPDATE TO THE INTEGRATED SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN <br />(ISWMP) <br />Construction of a new landfill will be added as an option with trucking to Pu`uanahulu, <br />building a waste-to-energy facility and bail/barge to the mainland. <br />The Commission will make their recommendation to Council Chair Hoffmann. <br />PRESENTATION: 2-STREAM RECYCLING <br />Linda Peters did a power point presentation and requested commission input before it is <br />finalized to present to the County Council (attached to original minutes). <br />Commission members suggested the Benefits of Recycling slide be moved to the first of the <br />presentation following the Title slide: 2-Bin Recycling in Hawai`i County. <br />The 2-Bin Recycling information and Frequently Asked Questions flyers were distributed <br />(attached to original minutes). <br />Waikoloa Recycling Pilot Project was discussed. <br />DISCUSSION: RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF HAWAI`I RECYCLES DAY <br />Erway made a motion to support submission of a resolution to Council proclaiming <br />November 15, 2007 as Hawai`i Recycles Day, to coincide with American Recycles Day. <br />Sanborn seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. <br />DISCUSSION: LONG-TERM E-WASTE RECYCLING: Deferred to next meeting. <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />6. <br />DISCUSSION: WASTE STREAM VISION STATEMENT FOR COUNCIL <br />Chair Witcher appointed a task force to draft a vision statement using the draft <br />prepared by Leithead-Todd, along with input received from commissioners, to bring to <br />the next meeting. The task force will be comprised of Bill Sanborn (Chair), Sam <br />Sumner, Paulette Pavao and Bobby Cooper. <br />TRASH TOUR <br />The Special Meeting Trash Tour has been scheduled for October 1, 2007. <br />A final itinerary and agenda was distributed (attached to original minutes). <br />FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS <br />8. <br />Strategic Plan for Sustaining and Replicating the Kea`au Recycling and Reuse Center <br />Nominating Committee’s Report <br />Enhanced Transfer Station Plan Presentation <br /> <br />
