Lincoln? <br />ASHIDA: Good morning, Vice Chair Kawahara, members of the Hawaii County Board of <br />Ethics. My name is Lincoln Ashida. I'm the Corporation Counsel for the County <br />of Hawaii. Good morning. This morning I represent— excuse me, the Hawaii <br />County Department of Liquor Control is represented by the Honorable Jan Pakele, <br />who's present also in this chamber this morning. They are our client. We <br />brought this matter before the Board of Ethics in an abundance of caution. What <br />had happened was, when we were in the process of filling various positions on <br />Hawaii County— various boards and commissions in our County, Mr. Onizuka's <br />application came before the Department of Liquor Control for the purposes of <br />appointing him to the Liquor Commission.
