MR. CARVALHO: You know, Val, when I did mine, the numbers were way better than this. I
should have brought it in. I'm going to submit it. But, Volcano and all that side is pretty messed
up. You guys got to straighten it up.
MS. POINDEXTER: But what I'm saying is we could work on that; but just save this map as
map 21 and submit the other one then.
MR. CARVALHO: And we can work on the other one.
MS. POINDEXTER: Or, do you want to try on this one now, putting Waikoloa back in, and then
taking Lakeland back into Hamakua? That's just another option; just to have another map.
CHR. SIRACUSA: District 8 needs to shed some numbers; probably into District 7.
MR. KANUHA: But, I'm going to have to start taking from Kailua town, and that's a big
population base.
MR. MELROSE: What about going into the upper lands, the watershed lands?
MR. KANUHA: Okay, go to the - -- -Zoom into the border of District 6 and 7. There really isn't
any population in all of those upper lands. For watershed value, those could all go into - - -See
those four blocks right above Kealakekua? One, two, three, four; those can go into District 7 as
well. That's good for the south boundary. The north boundary, I'm definitely going to have to
take some from town.
MR. KAHUI: Where is that north boundary; is it right on Palani Road? We could, maybe from
Palani, determine where we could give back to you, Dru, those needed numbers.
MR. KANUHA: Yes, the boundary could be Palani Road.
MR. KAHUI: I think that would help; if we could just zoom in closer and see if, in fact, it helps
with your numbers.
MR. KANUHA: It's still going to be a big population with Nani Kailua and Liliuokalani
subdivision.
MR. MIDDLESWORTH: Shyla, hit the display lines again, so we can see the roads better.
MR. KANUHA: Just put all of Nani Kailua into my district. That's how it is right now; but we
still would have to shed people in District 8?
MR. KAHUI: How does that number work for you? Our problem is we cannot see the numbers
or the deviation.
MR. KANUHA: Can you show the district statistics?
32
