CHR. SIRACUSA: Do you want to make a motion? Mr. Middlesworth moved to adopt November 10, 2011 as the deadline for the Commission to adopt a Draft Plan. Seconded by Ms. Ugalde and carried by the following vote: Ayes: Commissioners Carvalho, Kahawaiola` a, Kanuha, Melrose, Middlesworth, Poindexter, Ugalde, and Chair Siracusa. Noes: None. Absent: Commissioner Kahui. MR. MELROSE: Is that singular or plural? CHR. SIRACUSA: Singular. This is after we have gone out to the public and heard everybody's comments. So now I would like to vote on closing file on Communication 37. The motion to close file on COMM. 37 was carried by the following vote: Ayes: Commissioners Carvalho, Kahawaiola` a, Kanuha, Melrose, Middlesworth, Poindexter, Ugalde, and Chair Siracusa. Noes: None. COMM. 38: SETTING THE SCHEDULE FOR REDISTRICTING MEETINGS From Commission Chair Rene Siracusa, dated September 1, 2011, requesting discussion on scheduling meetings of the Redistricting Commission through the remainder of the year. Mr. Melrose moved to close file on COMM. 3 8. Seconded by Mr. Carvalho. CHR. SIRACUSA: Karen, do you want to let us know what is available when, and then we can start filling in our calendars. MS. EOFF: We do have our October public hearing schedule, and you were discussing whether or not to hold some regular meetings during the month of October. I did sort of poll the Commissioners to see what days are best for everybody, whether mornings or afternoons, and it seems like the morning is okay with most of the Commissioners and that leaves Thursdays and Fridays as good days for most. And if we set the schedule, it doesn't mean that we can't change it down the line, we just need to set some dates; whether we continue every two weeks, that is up to you. I know that Thursdays and Fridays the Council Chambers and Kona is available. X
