When people <br />came up they said they supported map number so and so. <br />Mr. Melrose moved to eliminate Plan 10 <br />due to the deviation in District 4 and because <br />Volcano was not in Puna and there was no <br />support for it at the public hearings. Seconded by <br />Ms. Poindexter and carried by the following vote: <br />Ayes: Commissioners Carvalho, Kahawaiola` a, <br />Kanuha, Melrose, Middlesworth, <br />Poindexter, Ugalde, and Chair Siracusa. <br />Noes: None. <br />Absent: Commissioner Kahui. <br />Review and Discuss Plan-] 7 <br />CHR. SIRACUSA: I think we have some high variations here also. Two of them are over <br />5 %; 5.19% and 5.15 %. So this is another one that was left in for talking points. As far as <br />Puna goes, once again there are the same concerns. Volcano is in, but not the golf course <br />area. It's split on the east /west axis which creates road connectivity issues for some of the <br />Puna communities. <br />MR. KANUHA: How is the Waikoloa area, and Districts 8 and 9 split? It puts Puako in <br />District 8 and Waikoloa in District 8. <br />CHR. SIRACUSA: This is okay for the north end, but it is not good for Puna, and we have <br />some numbers that are in excess. <br />MR. MELROSE: And I think it splits Hawaiian Paradise Park. <br />CHR. SIRACUSA: Yes it does split Hawaiian Paradise Park because the part that is mauka of <br />Highway 130 is not included. <br />Mr. Carvalho moved to eliminate Plan-1 7 <br />due high deviations and because it splits <br />Hawaiian Paradise Park.
