Special Programs <br /> <br />HAWAI`I KUPUNA SOFTBALL LEAGUE <br /> <br />Prior to the start of the regular season, Special Programs and the Hawai‘i Kupuna Softball <br />League conducted the annual Coaches and Umpires clinic at the Waimea Community Center on <br />Tuesday, February 8, 2011. More than thirty coaches, interested players, and umpires attended <br />the clinic which is held to inform coaches and umpires of all current Home , State and Official Senior <br />Softball-USA rules. Following the review of the rules by league coordinator Nathan Suganuma, all the <br />attendees were given information about the Positive Coaching Alliance program by Kailua Park, <br />Recreation Director Doug Roberts. <br /> <br />The first official games of the 2011 Hawai‘i Kupuna Softball League season began on Saturday, <br />February 12, 2011 at various fields around the island. This year the league has grown to 23 teams, <br />which is still the largest senior league in the State of Hawai‘i and includes two new teams, the Punatics <br />and the Pāpa‘ikou Aces. The game and league format will be weekly double-headers for each team <br />and two rounds of play with the 23 teams divided into East and West Divisions for the first round. <br />The second round, which begins on May 21, the teams will be divided into two divisions based on <br />their win/loss record. <br />Following the two rounds of league play the teams will be seeded into the 37th Annual Hawai‘i <br />Kupuna Softball Tournament which will be held at the Walter Victor Stadium in Hilo on July 14-15, 2011. <br />The highlight of the season will be the Hawai‘i State Senior Softball Tournament to be held here in Kona <br />at Kailua Park on August 2-4, 2011. <br />Come join our athletic men and women as they compete for fun and fellowship in a sport they love in the <br />2011 Hawai‘i Kupuna Softball League. <br /> <br />EAST DIVISION <br />1.
