Senior Community Service Employment Program <br /> <br />National September 20-26, 2009 <br />Employ Older Workers Week <br /> <br />The County of Hawai‘i Senior Training & Employment Program (STEP) received $76,844 in Federal funds <br />channeled to the State of Hawai‘i Department of Labor and Industrial Relations’ Workforce Development <br />Division. The funds are made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), <br />signed by President Barack Obama on February 17, 2009. The ARRA funding will be used to support <br />additional training and employment opportunities for an additional nine (9) unemployed low-income seniors. <br /> <br />Pictured on the front cover, sitting is Arna Goldstein who was hired using the ARRA funding. She will be <br />placed at the Hilo Public Library’s children's department as a circulation aide.
